Candy -- A Paper Doll

Meet Candy! She's loves to have fun, she likes to eat rainbow cupcakes, and she enjoys surfing.

So, do you think you'll make good friends?

I drew her about two years ago...she's pretty old. You can see how my technique has changed too.

Enjoy!

Roen -- The Eighth Faerie Girl

Click here for the rest of the Faerie Girls

Wow...I haven't been posting for a long while! I'm sorry...really I am. But I'm not going to bore you with all the reasons why. Let's just say I've had a lot going on (too much, in fact,) and therefore my creativity hasn't been to it's fullest. Plus I've been doing more painting than anything else. Let me know if you want to see them by posting in the comments below. (It's free.) ;]

To the doll:
She's the eighth installment of the Faerie Girls, and her name is Roen. It's such a pretty name... *sigh* I've spent what feels like a bijillion hours on her, making her and her clothes perfect just for you. I do hope you like her. I probably have three to four hours wrapped up in this one--the longest time ever for me to spend on a doll.

This is when you say:
"Three to four hours, and she only has two pairs of interchangeable shoes, and only two pairs of pants?!"
I respond coolly to this remark with a slight smile: "Yes. Because I did something I don't usually do which is all those little patterns that make each outfit individual," I pause here, but just for a second. Then continuing I kindly point out that: "The other dolls shoes and pants are supposed to fit her too, including all the other dolls. I tried to design it that way. It might not be perfect, but that's okay. It's the thought that counts, right?"
Then you will smile, nod, and proclaim: "Of course! Let me download this doll and all the others and proceed to cut each and ever shoe and pants and every other clothing item, and then have my own personal fashion show."

Then we part ways with another smile.

And the process starts over.

On another note, I'm working on a tutorial....in the shape of.... *Drum-roll please!*   VIDEO FORMAT! Just for you! Indeed! I'm going to have more than one, and they'll be on more than one outfit. Maybe even a doll! *GASP*

If you haven't noticed...I'm feeling a little sarcastic and overly tired. But, seriously, I'm working on a tutorial.

Yours truly,
~~Monica

Melanie-- Nintendo Nerd

Click here for Paper Doll Melanie

Well, after an unannounced vacation, I am back.
School started up, and then I got called into work, and then I went on vacation! September has been a busy month so far. Oh yeah, I also had my birthday.

Melanie decided to let her inner nerd come out for a day. =] I really like Nintendo games, and video games in general. And, I'm pretty good at them. So I decided that Melanie is too.

Pixel Art

Well, I know this isn't a paper doll or an outfit, but it's still art. I hope you like this post anyway.

I have recently taken in an interest in pixel art, and I decided to try making some of my own after some research.

So here is some of what I have done.

An island scene!! I surprised myself with this one.

I never ever thought I could do anything like this. It's so amazing! I can't decide which is my favorite.

The standard potion bottle. I did the traditional sprite line around it. (The black outline.) ^.^
And a magical potion with sparkles. =D

I used the free version of Make Pixel Art. I originally found it hard to use at first, but I got the hang of it after awhile. I really like it.

I hope to get waaaaay better at pixel art, and make some really cool pictures. Let me know what you think of this.

There will be no posts next week. Sorry. =(

Emi -- Fantasy Armor

Click here for Paper Doll Emi

So. I drew this awhile back, probably a year or so ago. It's based off of Ted Dekker's Circle Series. (Great books by the way. I highly recommend them.) And I drew this. It's actually watercolour. Watercolour pencils. It's the last one in that medium for her. So enjoy it. =D

I hope to have another post up this week. Hopefully by telling you all that I am planning one will help me get it done. Sorry I keep forgetting to post. It seems a lot of paper doll blogs are on hiatus, and I don't want to be one of them! I really do wish I was more regular. But I don't think I am a sort of regular person. I'm more free-spirited.

Monica

Melanie -- Simple Skinny Jeans

Click Here for Paper Doll Melanie

Do you remember Melanie? Well, if you don't, let me update you. I drew her in March of 2010, and I only made her about four outfits or so. Since then I just stuck her on a  back burner. But I recently did a poll on who you (the readers) would like to see more clothes for, and Melanie had...zero votes, I just realized that. Ooops... haha.
Anyway. I just drew her four new outfits to go with the four old ones, thinking that the poll said you wanted to see more for her. I really like this one. I have a super nerdy outfit coming for her soon too.
I hope you don't mind that I got my info messed up! I was thinking of Janelle and Akeela--they both had even votes. And of course, the winner, which was the Faerie Girls. I have several more dolls drawn for that series, all in different stages. ;)
So yeah, that's my update. Hope you like it.

Rockin' It -- Outfit for Skye

Click Here for Paper Doll Skye

I don't know what I was thinking of when I drew this outfit... But I do now that I originally had left it black and white. (See it here.) I don't really like this outfit at all. I don't even have any witty banter to say about it either! Oh well. Just enjoy. If you like it, you can print it out and whatnot. Have fun.

My Neighbor Totoro

This is Totoro! I drew him, and I like him oh so much! He's from the Japanese Anime movie "My Neighbor Totoro", and he is the King of the Forest. And adorably cute.

The symbols up there in the top right corner of the image is Japanese for "my neighbor Totoro." I don't know if I wrote them right, but I gave it my best shot!

The movie is so cute, and I would highly recommend that ya'all watch it.

I think next on my list is Pongo. Or maybe Princess Mononoke. ;)

~~Monica
P.S.
I have some other equally nerdy drawings on the way for you soon! And I promise some more outfits.

Skye -- Lace Cardigan

Click Here for Paper Doll Skye

I just found this cardigan in my files, and I believe it matches this dress, which I had drawn quite awhile ago. Back in September, a year ago almost. I thought it would be something interesting to post, and maybe you could mix and match it with some other pieces of Skye's wardrobe.

Emi -- Watercolour Medieval Gown

Click Here for Paper Doll Emi

Here is another watercolour gown for Emi. I really like this one. The colours are so crazy and yet very beautiful.

Does anyone want to see anything specific on the blog?

Oh hey... I've gotten several spam comments lately. Please don't submit them. Thank you.

Emi -- Watercolour Frock

Click Here for Paper Doll Emi

I did this several months ago...probably last year, actually.
It's done with watercolor pencils. I am actually rather liking it better than my other colouring pencil work right now...Just the smooth even shades and minimal lines make it very appealing.
Also the vintage vibe is nice.

Warrior Elf -- A Drawing

Here is a Warrior Elf for you. I just drew her. It took me about 15 minutes. She's also one of my most unrealistically proportioned drawings ever. lol I just wanted to draw something, and this is what I got. I want to colour her using the computer. I have the program GIMP. Do you guys have any tips on that?

Ciara -- Forest Fairy

Click Here for Paper Doll Ciara

Here is a pretty dress for Ciara. She's going to Comic-Con, and decided to dress up as a fairy. A Forest Fairy, to be precise.

I really like this dress, it has movement, colour, and it's a nice to change. It's fresh, I guess, like the forest would be in spring. I also really like the belt and necklace--I thought they turned out well. I'm not very successful with accessories.

Janelle -- Thinking Thrifty

Click Here for Paper Doll Janelle

Hello!

Here is an outfit that Janelle got from the Thrift Store. (Second-hand clothing store.) Now, thrift stores are not all ewy like everyone thinks. Most of the clothes I own (in real life) are from a thrift store. If you go to the right ones, you can get some good stuff. I recently purchased a American Eagle sweatshirt from a thrift store for five dollars. That sweatshirt brand new more than likely cost thirty to forty dollars from the store. And I got it in near-perfect condition. I also got an Aeropostale purse from a thrift store. And some Old Navey items too. If you look hard, you can find really good stuff at thrift stores. ;)

Anyway, back to the outfit.
Janelle likes pink, so the pink cardigan was a must. She was looking for a basic tank top for layering, and she came across one. And the plaid skirt with leggings was so anime that she figured it couldn't hurt.

Ahaha, anyway, this is one of my favorite outfits for Janelle so far. I hope you like it too!

Skye-- Black and White to Blue

Click Here for the Paper Doll
Click Here for Black and White Version

I had drawn and posted this in black and white. But recently I decided to make it a a blended blue, from light to dark.
I thought it turned out pretty good... The middle colour isn't quite what I wanted it to be though.
You can see the black and white version by clicking the link above.

Skye-- Another Fantasy Outfit

Click Here for Paper Doll Skye

There's not that much to say about this outfit... It's not one of my favorites and yet I don't hate it either. It's just... another outfit, that's all. =]

I drew it in a hurry several months ago, that explains  the simplicity of it. I would wear the boots though. I would really wear those boots.

Vintage Styled Dress for Emi

Click Here for Paper Doll Emi

Vintage Styled dress for Emi...I'm not altogether pleased with it. The skirt was supposed to have a pattern, but instead it looks like little blobs. And the collar and corset thinger turned out to be the wrong color of grey. But on a positive note, I like the shoes and hair. They turned out nice.

You might be wondering why there aren't as many posts for Emi as for Skye or Ciara. Well, Emi is harder to draw for really. She has an odd body type, and sometimes I just don't want to bother with creating her clothes that will most likely turn out looking weird. But I do try, and when I am on a good drawing streak, I'll draw her clothes.

Oh, and you might have noticed that I added a page on the very top right corner near the search bar. It's a tutorial on how I draw the outfits/dolls. Can you let me know what you think of it?

Lora -- Fearie Girl 7

Click Here for the rest of the Faerie Girls

And I introduce to you Lora, the Seventh Faerie.

My goodness did she take awhile to make! I have been so busy with other things, and I kept forgetting to make her certain clothes. (Like shoes for example.) And then I forgot to draw her jewelry. So I drew her jewelry and scanned her in, but then forgot to color the jewelry! So I had to color it, and then scan it in again. Just little things like that kept  happening. But I think she turned out  very nicely. She might be my favorite now? I'm not sure. I've had trouble picking out a favorite Faerie Girl for quite awhile.

I tried to give her some different clothing, but I always find myself coming back to these categories: warrior, ballgowns, causal/lounge, and fancy dresses.(Which I guess can double as ballgowns.)

She doesn't have as much jewelry as the others, but I think that's fine.

So what do you think of the new Faerie Girl? Yay or  nay?

--Monica

P.S.
I just realized that I spelled Faerie wrong on the images...oops. And it's too late to fix it. ehehe

Polka Dot Sari for Skye

I realize that the several past posts have been for Skye, but she has lots of outfits waiting to be posted, and I really want to get them up on the site, so I thought it would be good to have a "Skye Marathon".

I have drawn a sari before too, for Ciara. I drew it back in 2010 (wow, that seems like a long time ago!) and I was very excited. I think I am going to attempt another one soon.

I know that ladies from India don't usually wear jeans and Converse with their sari's, but Skye is a crazy American! ahaha

I recently was asked in my survey that I have (up on the other site) to have "More historically accurate outfits." While that is harder to do for me, since it can often involve hours of research, this outfit is accurate, minus the jeans and sneakers. Thank you for the suggestion, Anonymous!

Fantasy outfit for Skye

Click Here for the Paper Doll

Today Skye is going a little bit tribal-fantasy. Bright yellow is one of her favorites.

I am not quite pleased with how the colouring came out, but it was good enough to post it. So here it is!

I really am making an effort on posting here again, so hopefully I can keep a steady stream of posts up.

And here is a shout-out to one of my favorite paper doll websites, Paper Thin Personas. She posts great outfits and dolls. Go check her out!

Coming Soon!

Hi!

I just wanted to let all you guys know that I am working on some posts. I have been behind by two or three weeks of posting here, and I am so very sorry. I know, I know, you have heard it all before. But I wanted to tell you that I am still alive and doing art! I am working on another Faerie Girl, and I have tons of outfits for Skye. (I think she has the largest wardrobe out of all the paper dolls!)

So, there are plenty of things coming. Just please keep checking back for it. ;)

This is a recent watercolor that I did. I was pretty pleased with it. Although, her tail annoys me just a tiny bit. I didn't notice it till I was done. But I am very happy with her face, hair, and upper body; it all turned out like I wanted it too.

Empress Elizabeth's Dress for Skye -- A Suggestion

Click Here for Paper Doll Skye

Here is a pretty dress for Skye. It is based off of Empress Elizabeth of Austria's dress. I used this image here as reference, which was kindly submitted by Meredith. Thanks again, Meredith!!
I didn't put as much detail in it, since I don't have the proper resources and know-how. (I am not good at lace, and I don't have different shades of white to color it and make it look good.)
But it is a pretty pretty dress, and I am excited that I have gotten some suggestions! I hope, Meredith, that you like the dress and that it is to your expectations.
I did draw two, and this turned out to be the better one. I had to play around with the front, since the reference picture was a side view, which is fine. I thought it turned out nice.

P.S.
I updated the suggestions page adding this dress to it.

I would never have thought of doing Dorothy's dress, so this was a great suggestion. Although, any suggestion is great to me, because I like to get each one!

So, I hope you like it, Rebekah, and I will be adding your name and this outfit/post to the Suggestions Page.

I just wanted to let Rebekah H. know that I will have Dorothy Anne's outfit up for April 18th. I know it sounds far away, but I had my posting schedule planned out till then, and that's when it fit! Thanks again for sending in a suggestion!!
And, Meredith J., I will have yours done soon!! The pictures are great, thanks so much!!

Enjoy the dress,

Summer Fun Set for Paper Doll Janelle

Click Here for Paper Doll Janelle

Here is an awesome set for Janelle!

The purple shirt can double as a swimsuit, too. It looks like both. The blue piece is a swimsuit. The bat-wing red and yellow can be shirt or a swimsuit cover-up.

This took about three hours to make in all, including computer stuff. I hope you all enjoy it.

Notice all the shoes? I spent some time on those!! I am not the greatest at shoes, and I seem to always run out of imagination, so I looked in a couple magazines for some ideas. That inspired me, and so here are some good shoes for Janelle! I am sure she will like them, right?

Jeans and T-Shirt for Skye

Click Here for Paper Doll, Skye

Hey, y'all!

Here is a pretty cool long t-shirt and casual jeans for Skye. In black and white. Yeah, sorry about that! Life has been pretty...hectic lately. So, that's part of why I was MIA. But I think I am back now. I hope so!

I think this outfit would look great with a tan belt, but I never got to draw any for it. Next time, right?

I also think that this would look awesome if the shirt was a nice, cool, teal blue, and the pants a olive green or tan. Or maybe grey. Whichever. If anyone wants to color it and send it in, I'll feature it on this site! Just shoot me an email.

Well, I must go!

See you soon!

Mulan Dress for Ciara Paper Doll

Here is an outfit for Ciara. It's inspired from the movie Mulan. This dress was not in the movie, but I found some Disney pictures of Mulan with different dresses, and she had one similar to this.

I have been posting a lot of clothes lately for Ciara because I find her wardrobe is quite limited and small. She needs more clothes!!

I'll post again as soon as I can, right now I am battling the flu.

Watercolor Mermaid II -- Nixie

Click Here for the Other Watercolor Mermaid

This is a watercolor mermaid I did in January. She's the last part of a series. See the link above for the other one.

I did have some bleeding, but I think I covered it nicely. And I was never satisfied with the color of the coral. I wanted it a bright bright pinky-orange color. But otherwise I am very pleased with this. I am pleased with the mermaid herself, although I should have worked on her chest better. I think it might look a little awkward, ahaha.

What do you all think?

Watercolor Mermaid

So, I have been using watercolors a lot lately, and I decided to show you some of my creations. This is the first mermaid I have drawn in a long while, and I don't think everything is proportionate. But, I love the colors, and her hair, and pretty much everything about her.

There is a poll on the right of the screen here, right at the top. Could you vote in it please? It is important to the blog! =D

First post of 2012! A Pretty Purple Dress for Emi

Hello!
As you can see, I am back, and to kick things off, I decided to post an outfit for Emi. It's more of a casual dress, but she can dress it up with her black heels. It used to have gloves to give more of a formal air, but I decided to cut those out because they were drawn poorly. (Not the first time I have failed gloves.)
But, I plan to keep on posting clothing. Who would you like to see more outfits for? You can answer in the poll below! =D
